AuralTheory.com is a site created with the singular goal of empowering music students to become master classical music dictation takers. The anxiety that surrounds melodic and harmonic dictation and sight singing is so very real for so many students. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Through the writings, videos, and eventual courses offered on this site, inquisitive students can gain access to strategies and methods that will give them the confidence needed to understand and master the art of aural theory.
Dr. Julia Alford is an educator, composer, and content creator. She received a DMA degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and worked for the Boyer College of Music and Dance, Temple University for six years as an administrator and manager of entrance tests for incoming music students. In this role, she designed a complete online aural theory placement test and instruction program, well before the advent of COVID-19. She currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor in music theory and teaches graduate review classes in aural and written theory at Temple University.
